Staten Bitting is of counsel with Levy, Sibley, Foreman & Speir, LLC. His practice includes civil litigation, workers’ compensation defense and appeals in these areas. He also serves as a mediator in civil suits and workers’ compensation claims.  Staten earned his B.A. from Furman University and was graduated cum laude from Stetson University College of Law with his J. D. in 1978.He has served as President of the Georgia Defense Lawyers Association and Chair of the Workers’ Compensation Section of the Georgia Bar. For several years he was on the State Board of Workers’ Compensation Education Committee. He was a member of the Georgia Supreme Court Commission on Dispute Resolution from 2020 to 2025. Staten formerly acted as a Special Assistant Attorney General in the areas of workers’ compensation defense and right-of-way condemnation. For twelve years he was a member of the East Central Georgia Library Board, serving two terms as President, and was a member of the Furman Alumni Board.
